There is no criticism section?

[edit]

Pretty sure this is one of the most polarizing shows of the year. Why is there no Criticism section in it? Oixyplanet (talk) 21:18, 17 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Various criticisms of the show are covered in the "Reception" section. However, one thing to note is that while yes, this show is very controversial, a lot of the outcry against it just comes from people on social media, not independent reliable sources. That's why there might not be as many negative notations in the reception section. Blubewwy (talk) 23:44, 17 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This seems like Wikipedias rules are being a roadblock to its goal as an encyclopaedia. The negative reactions to the show are obviously notable due to their scale and commonality, but due to not being covered in mainstream reliable sources and rather being relegated to social media there is no way to mention them in the article. To not do so is doing our readers a disservice, as criticism of the show is some of the most frequent and widespread discussion of it in the internet circles where the show originated.
Surely there is a way to include it under Wikipedias conditions? FizzleDrunk (talk) 13:41, 15 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I mean, we're not going to include tweets and facebook posts. Yes, the show is extremely controversial, almost by design. But we still need reliable secondary sources. GMGtalk 13:51, 15 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. Mention of the show's controversial nature just do not need to be included if it's not discussed in secondary sources. No matter how many people speak on how they dislike it, it's just not worth putting it into the article if this widespread dislike never makes it any further than Twitter or Facebook. Blubewwy (talk) 21:38, 15 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Exactly. There are many varied perspectives already in response to the series from reliable sources (I counted a total of ten for pilot reception section and twelve for the series reception section, not including metacritic and rotten tomatoes). That's already a LOT more than many other series. I agree that citing Twitter or Facebook for opinions on the series would be utterly worthless. As such, I would say that the views by FizzleDrunk and Oixyplanet on this are misplaced. Historyday01 (talk) 21:43, 15 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
